SPELLING AND PHONICS:
Pupils are often unclear about their spelling and reading. As a response to this need the use of PhonoGraphix- the extended code booklet is  used across the Year Eight band in helping pupils to sound out words especially those which give them difficulty.

Pupils are encouraged to use the ‘look-cover-write-check’ method in learning spellings. Weekly spelling tests are to be given across the KS3 band and pupils are provided with the opportunity to partake in the weekly Spellings League. This promotes a healthy and competitive atmosphere amongst pupils in their search for success in spellings.
