Hoop Dreams-Queen’s Film Theatre
On Friday 24th September 2009, Year Nine Film Club members were invited to attend a screening of the film Hoop Dreams, which was part of the Game On!  Film Festival at the QFT in Belfast.

The film followed the lives of two teenage boys and their dreams of becoming professional basketball players. Income, educational ability and upbringing are all shown to affect the chances of the boys as they train and attempt to reach the top.

A healthy snack was provided for all at the interval. Pupils were then treated to a basketball workshop with top Irish basketball coach Gavin Garland. Pupils teamed up with other schools to shoot a few hoops and worked on their team building techniques as well as their communication skills. Once the workshop was completed pupils were brought on a tour of the PEC at Queens-an impressive state of the art fitness centre.
