Unit 3:        Understanding and producing creative texts
                   Reading Literary Texts from the following:

                   The Literary Heritage       Creative Writing
                   40% Controlled Assessment
Course Two: English Language and English Literature:
English Language:
Unit 1:        Understanding and producing non-fiction texts
                   Reading 20%         Writing 20%          External Assessment
Unit 2:        Speaking and Listening
                   Presenting, Discussing, Listening and Role Play 
                   20% Controlled Assessment
Unit 3:        Understanding spoken and written texts and writing creatively-Total 40%
                   Spoken Language Investigation                     10%
                   Extended Text Study: Fiction/Non-Fiction    15%

AND
English Literature:
Unit 1:        Exploring modern texts-Total 40%
                   Modern prose and drama          20%
                   Exploring cultures                     20%
Pupils will then choose either units 2 and 3 OR units 4 and 5 to complete
the course of study.         
Unit 2:        Poetry across time-Total 35%
                   The Literary Heritage and Contemporary poetry, including a comparative     
                   study

Unit 3:        The significance of Shakespeare and the Literary Heritage-Total 25%
