Titanic Voyage for De La Salle
Year Nine Film Clubbers made an epic journey to the Titanic Quarter in Belfast on Thursday, 29th March to watch the International Film Festival ‘Cast Away’ run by Cinemagic and Titanic Belfast. Pupils were lucky enough to be some of the first members of the public to enter the soon to be iconic Titanic House, part of the world’s largest Titanic Visitor Experience. Titanic Belfast is an iconic six-floor building featuring nine interpretive and interactive galleries that explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of Titanic, as well as the City and people which made her. It is the world’s largest Titanic exhibition. Oscar-winning screenwriter, Lord Julian Fellowes, of Downton Abbey and Titanic fame, judged the entries for the film festival and our pupils, along with a number of other schools had the pleasure of taking part in a question answer after the films had been screened. Julian Fellowes said “After writing the new four-part ITV drama about the Titanic, I know how absorbing this noble ship and its fatal voyage can be. There is no limit to the way the story can be investigated, examined, re-invented, and I very much look forward to viewing the work of these talented young film-makers." A great day was had by all and we look forward to a return visit to this wonderful, historical attraction. |
