Who really banned A Clockwork Orange? Why did audiences live in fear of Snow White? These are some of the questions that were answered for the members of De La Salle’s Film Club. Members of Film Club were given the opportunity to partake in a Film Classification Workshop as part of the events taking place at the Cinemagic Festival in Belfast in conjunction with the British Board of Film Classification.
A special presentation was delivered initially followed by an interactive workshop, whereby pupils had to classify a film according to the guidelines they had worked on during the presentation.
FILM CLUB has been running in De La Salle since May 2007 and provides pupils with a chance to enter the incredible, limitless cosmos of films.
At the heart of FILM CLUB is a belief that film broadens our minds in extraordinary and unexpected ways but that this cannot happen without access to all kinds of films. Each week the pupils watch a film of their choice and write an online review. Films ranging from Jaws to Boyz N the Hood, have been screened, much to the delight of all members.
Pupils are able to rate and review films that are screened by the school’s film club and share their views on line with other schools across the whole of the U.K.
